Reading, writing, speaking, and listening remain the cornerstones of elementary instruction and a necessary requisite in middle school and high school for all subjects. The importance of the language arts for school and work success has made this area one of the most researched, and often one of the most controversial of all disciplines.
STBS emphasizes the interrelatedness of all forms of communication and the importance of the processes involved. Our Language Arts instructional program is based on the following parameters:
- Reading and writing must be taught together
- Reading, writing, speaking, and listening must be integrated
- Students should write for a variety of purposes & audiences
- The writing process should include pre-writing, drafting, revising, and editing
