ST. Theresa Bilingual school is a comprehensive school enrolling approximately 700 students in grades Pre-K3-12th grade. The school has continued to grow over the past 20 years and is accredited through the Honduran Ministry of Education and is an active member of the Association of Bilingual Schools of Honduras. In 2018, our graduation rate was 100%.

Saint Theresa Bilingual School believes that offering the best possible education program, curriculum, and instruction based on the highest standards will provide students the opportunity to maximize their potential.  STBS believes quality education is attainable when students are valued as individuals in a community, prepared to think globally and challenged to act responsibly.


Saint Theresa Bilingual School was founded in 1993 in order to provide an English/ Spanish Bilingual education with an emphasis on the English Language, primarily for La Ceiba families. The initial leadership of the school was and remains so today predominantly Honduran with a strong U.S. American influence.

In 2017, with the approval from the Honduran Ministry of Education, Saint Theresa Bilingual School returned to a 12-year High School Program; offering the Bachillerato Internacional en Ciencias y Humanidades (Honduran High School Diploma in Science and Humanities).

On March 31, 2020, Saint Theresa Bilingual School was awarded accreditation by the Cognia Global Commission offering accreditation by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), the Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI). The three listed regional agencies provide Saint Theresa Bilingual School with a highly regarded accreditation that is recognized worldwide.
